Members will train in organic gardening at the Santa Cruz Homeless Garden and the University of California Santa Cruz Agroecology Farm and Garden and in botanical horticulture at the UCSC Arobretum. They will then perform service at area schools, creating and expanding gardens and training the students and teachers in gardening and landscaping. They will also act as mentors for at-risk youth in a therapeutic garden setting.
Pay will be $5.15 per hour plus a $4725 educational bonus at the end of the one-year program. Medical benefits included. Child care available.
