| The Joseph M. Long Marine Laboratory was dedicated in 1978 to honor Joseph M. Long, co-founder of Longs Drugs, for his substantial and lasting contributions to the UC Santa Cruz marine science program.The lab is an internationally recognized center for research in invertebrate ecology and marine mammal physiology, bioenergetics and cognition. |
When you go there, you can examine the 85-foot skeleton of a blue whale, tour interpretive exhibits, and wet your hands in touch tanks. (Open 1 to 4, Tuesday thru Sunday) Or you can visit their web site and take a virtual tour of the Lab.
